September
By · CommentsHi everyone! this is a reminder that this week is the last week of practice until the month of September. I believe practice will start on Monday September 5th. Unfortunately i will no longer be the head coach because i will be moving. But i hope you will welcome the new coach just as you did myself.
I had a great time this summer and i hope everyone has a great Winter season!!

Summer
By · CommentsHey Stingrays, welcome everyone to summer! Because of our season is slowing down, we may be making a few changes. The low participation during the summer may cause us to go back to the one practice per day (on MWF). I would love the feedback from you all about practice times. We will either start at 4:00, or 5:00. Please let me know which practice would be easier for you to attend. Most of the OKC swim leagues take brakes for the summer, this has made it more then challenging to come up with some summer meets. I would love some feedback on whether you all would be interested on attending an inner squad meet. I was thinking about hosting it at UCO on June 18th, let me know if that would work for you. I am really excited about evryone’s progress and I hope to see everyone rock out during the summer. Thanks in advance for the feedback, JC

By · CommentsHey everyone!
What a great first two weeks of practice I’m happy to see everyone is getting into the groove of this. I know it can get a little crazy at this time of the year so i thank everyone for sticking with me.
Well i have some great news i just found out our first meet is APRIL 30th at UCO! I’m sure a lot of you will have questions about this but don’t panic. I will be giving a hand out to your kids next Monday with all the information you will need for sign ups and information regarding to the meet When? where? what we need? all of that will be answered in the handout. Any additional information? you can just ask or email me. I just hope everyone is getting excited knowing that the first meet is only a couple weeks away.
Reminder try and spread the word about the swim team we want to get as many kids swimming as possible!

Developmental League
By · CommentsMy first task as new coach is to inform you, in case you have not heard, that we will be changing competitive leagues. The Edmond Y swim team will now be a developmental team in which we will concentrate more on endurance and stroke techniques. In otherwords, we will be focusing on our swimming skills and strokes. We believe we need to better our strokes and perfect them in order to become better individual swimmers and build a better team. So many young swimmers develop bad swimming habits at a young age because they have not been taught properly and we want to correct that now.
We will be competing against other YMCA developmental teams in the Oklahoma City area once a month on Saturdays and the meets will be at UCO. There will be no actual disqualifications at these meets, but the children will be instructed using the USA swimming rules and regulations which will be part of the learning and developmental process.
This past year, there has been a great interest from our parents and the swimmers to go in this direction. We need to get back to the basics of learning, developing, and loving the sport rather than a rush to win and score points. We believe this will make for better happier swimmers.
The fee will decrease to reflect the structure change of the team. Monthly dues will be $30 for members and $40 for nonmembers. I will be posting the offical flyer on the website within the next two days.
The YMCA aquatics and I are very excited about this new direction that the swim team will be taking and hope that you are too.
Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions or concerns.
